ThyssenKrupp Tallent Ltd announces the expansion of it’s apprenticeship programme - 20th November 2006

Building upon many years of a highly successful Engineering Apprenticeship programme, the company is delighted to announce a new addition to the rewarding apprenticeship programmes which have developed young people into highly skilled members of the workforce, combining work experience with nationally recognized qualifications.

The new ‘Manufacturing Apprenticeship’, is aimed at those who qualify for apprenticeship funding or equivalent, who are not in education, training or employment or are looking to improve their prospects and provide them with permanent full-time employment and a nationally recognized training programme while they earn.

The Company has developed their programme with Gateshead College and NA-Consultants.  The first programme will provide 18 young people with the opportunity to train “off the job” for 13 weeks, leading to an NVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations.  The successful applicants will continue their training within the plant following a demanding NVQ programme of Manufacturing Operations and Business Improvement Techniques and achieve permanent positions within one year.

Simon Flunder, Managing Director at ThyssenKrupp Tallent Ltd, said, “We see this as another critical initiative, in addition to our skilled apprentice scheme, to develop our staff with the correct skills for our business requirements.  It is a great opportunity for young people to start a career in the manufacturing industry”.

Full details of the opportunities are to be widely advertised from Tuesday 21st November 2006 and full details can be obtained from the Company.
